IFK - BKK Syllabus.

Although not part of your grading syllabus it is important that all students familiarise themselves with the 17 hand techniques and 21 leg techniques. created by Hanshi Steve Arneil as warm up exercises and used throughout the IFK to develop strong limbs. 10th Kyu



How to fold a karate gi.
The correct way of wearing a karate gi.
Meaning of Kyokushinkai.
Dojo etiquette and procedures.

Yoi-Dachi, Fudo Dachi, Zenkutsu Dachi, Uchi Hachii-Dachi.

Note
Students will be tested for their ability on the above techniques in Fudo Dachi and moving in Zenkutsu-Dachi. Fists to be held closed at all times.


9th Kyu



History of Kyokushinkai and International Federation of Karate.

Stances
Sanchin-Dachi, Kokutsu-Dachi, Musubi-Dachi.

Punches
Seiken-Ago-Uchi, Seiken-Gyaku-Tsuki, (Jodan, Chudan, Gendan).

Blocks
Seiken-Chudan-Uchi-Uke, Seiken-Chudan-Soto-Uke.

Kicks
Chudan-Mae-Geri-Chusoku.

Kata
Taikyoku-Sono-Ni.

Breathing
Nogare.

Sanbon Kumite

Attack - (1) Seiken-Oi-Tsuki-Jodan (2) Seiken-Oi-Tsuki Chudan (3) Seiken-Oi-Tsuki-Gedan

Defence & Counter Attack - (1) Seiken-Jodan-Uke (2) Seiken-Chudan-Soto-Uke (3) Seiken-Mae-Gedan Barai, followed by Seiken-Gyaku-Tsuki-Chudan then block again with Seiken-Mae-Gedan-Barai.

Renraku
Seiken-Gyaku-Tsuki (Chudan or Jodan).

3rd Kyu

2nd Kyu



General questions on Karate. Understanding of Karate warm up exercises and the ability to demonstrate them.

Hiraken-Tsuki (Jodan, Chudan), Hiraken-Oroshi-Uchi, Hiraken-Mawashi-Uchi, Haisho (Jodan,Chudan), Age-Jodan-Tsuki.

Tobi-Nidan-Geri, Tobi-Mae-Geri - 3 methods.

Kata
Pinan-Sono-Go, Gekisai-Dai.

Jiyu-Kumite.

Renraku
Move back and block Seiken-Mae-Gedan-Barai, slide forward Seiken-Ago-Uchi, slide forward Seiken- Gyaku-Tsuki-Chudan, one step Mae-Geri Chudan, followed by Mawashi-Geri Jodan, Ushiro-Geri Chudan, Seiken-Mae-Gedan-Barai, Seiken-Gyaku-Tsuki-Chudan, return and cover. (Fist to be held closed at all times).

Exercises
50 Seiken push ups.
10 Two finger push ups (on knees). Then change to five fingers, extend legs and hold position for 15 seconds.
100 Stomach pulls.
70 Squats.
20 Jumping-kicks (feet together) over belt held at waist height.

Note
The applicant must be physically fit to perform all techniques i.e. not injured. Any permanent physical disability must be underwritten by a Doctor's letter of explanation.

1st Kyu

Ryutoken-Tsuki (Jodan,Chudan) Nakayubi-Ippon-Ken (Jodan, Chudan), Oyayubi-Ippon-Ken (Jodan, Chudan).
